About the Bridge: The Bridge is a non-profit community based organization that serves over 3,500 youth through main campus programs, seven school-based TEAM UP after-school programs, a year-round program at Southwind Villas Public Housing Community, a school based intensive case management program at Andrew Jackson High School and a Healthy Families Program for pregnant women in 8 zip codes. The Bridge main campus is also the site of two partnership programs with the Duval County Public Schools: the Alternative to Out-of-School Suspension Program and Bridge to Success Program.
The Bridge goal is to develop healthy, productive, self-sufficient youth and families by providing comprehensive educational, social, and health programs to those in need. We create a healthy environment that generates hope for children, youth and families and empowers them to develop their potential as responsible members of society. We target children of Jacksonville’s most overburdened, poor families where the risk is highest for negative outcomes like teen pregnancy, dropping out of high school and crime.
Jazz on The Bridge is a fundraising concert to help the children and families of The Bridge. There will be a food reception, a silent auction, and an evening of (3) three live Jazz performances: R&B/Jazz singer and jazz violinist Miles J. Davis accompanied by his Jazz ensemble along with award winners Marcus R. Johnson (keyboardist) and Alyson Williams (R&B songstress). The event will be held at the Jacksonville Public Library (Downtown – Laura Street) on February 14. 2015 from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
