Meadows’ adventurous musical spirit affords him the luxury of collaborating with such diverse luminaries as Stevie Wonder, Eartha Kitt, The Temptations, George Benson and Norman Connors, to name a few. On January 20, 2015, Marion Meadows released his second album for Shanachie Entertainment in partnership with Listen 2 Entertainment Group, Soul Traveler. “This album tells my personal story and my journey as an artist working in different mediums. Soul Traveler is the follow-up CD to Marion Meadows’ 2013 critically heralded Whisper and features all originals. It is an intimate, honest and spiritually moving epic journey that shines light on why Meadows is one of the most loved soprano saxophonists of our time. He assembles a stellar cast of extraordinary musician to help him in bringing his epic to our ears: Najee’s dancing flute on Celebration Road, oo-we-baqby! Magic Men features Carlos Pennisi, tenor-man Elan Trotman, bassist Chip Shearin and keyboardist Will Brock. The title track Soul Traveler serves up a riveting duet between Pennisi and Meadows while Humanity delivers the piano wizardry of Lamar Gaines. They are in seduction mode on Andalusian Sunset with the sizzling Flamenco guitar of Juan Benevides. Violinist Phil MacArthur serenades you on Invisible and Mother Earth features a surprise rap by Toni Bias. Dark Beauty highlights flutist Ragan Whiteside and Life in The Clouds put trumpeter Joey Sommerville and tenor-man Kyle Turner front and center. Tenor saxophonist, Vincent Ingals shares the spotlight alongside Meadows on Real Time.
Marion maintains his rank as a pioneer on the contemporary jazz scene and is an artist determined to continually reinvent himself and his artistry. “I attribute the success of my career to staying true to what I do and great fans throughout the years,” confesses Marion. “I am also inspired by the resiliency of the music community I am part of.
